Southern California Seasons

Southern California Seasons

Vermilion, emerald, amber and brown

I walked outside and turned around
Were the glorious colors of my trees here to stay?
God had made one glorious day!

I could not believe what I had just seen
The variety of colors plus luscious green.
Later that day, from my back yard
The most wonderful sunset seen from afar.

Apricot, fuchsia, saffron and navy,
The winter colors evoked noble paisley.

The Christmas week rains held more weather surprises
Snowcapped mountains unleashed their disguises.

I got out my camera like a kid with a toy
Who’d think December climate could conjure this joy?
A few months had gone by
And what did appear?

Cool cloudy mornings
with a herd full of deer.
I captured again a most wondrous sight
Never before had appeared in morn light.

These beautiful creatures rarely been seen
Separated only by our pool’s fenced-in screen.

California does have its seasons
Though not strictly weather
One must be vigilant to capture and tether.

Keep on looking, and snapping what nature had brought
You’ll truly find treasures that only God wrought.
