I am a fan of Amy Tan.
Her scholarship is strong.
“Where the Past Begins”
will shiver your pins.
800 languages she doth know—
alive or dead and gone.
So why do I,
mere humble I,
rely on my thesaurus?
Next time I’ve wrung
the tip of my tongue
I’ll say a word
however absurd
and claim it was used
and now abused
from the age of the brontosaurus.
